Anti-gun groups all seem to be on board with the same rhetoric that more guns equals more crime. To a casual observer, and someone who is uninterested in the facts, this theory might seem to make sense. After all, if there were no guns, there would be no crime right?
Wrong.
According to the FBI’s report:
…the FBI’s Preliminary Semiannual Uniform Crime Report reveal overall declines in the number of violent crimes and property crimes reported to law enforcement during the first six months of 2014 when compared to figures from the first six months of 2013. Violent crimes reported for January through June of 2014 were down 4.6 percent from the same time period in 2013. All of the offenses in the violent crime category—murder and non-negligent manslaughter, rape, aggravated assault, and robbery—showed decreases…
Americans are not alone in this either. In Switzerland, guns are a major part of their culture. So much so that they do not have a large regular army, rather Switzerland has a large militia force comprised of men between the ages of 18-34. Members of this militia are required to keep their guns in their home, and are able to keep their guns after their service has ended. In 2013, there were only 18 gun related homicides in Switzerland.
Estimates put the number of privately owned firearms in Switzerland at around 3.4 million. Only 18 of those were used in a murder in 2013. If the gun grabbers were correct in their assumption that more guns equal more crime, Switzerland would have had far more gun related deaths.
You can’t help but wonder then, why do gun grabbers want you to give up your guns?
